Kids Yoga For Anxiety
Learn a calm routine for those anxious moments
April Easter Holidays - 19 - 22 of April 2022
How Yoga decreases anxiety in children
Any exercise or movement has the potential to reduce anxiety, and studies show that yoga works as well as cognitive behavioural therapy to do this. Yoga gives children a number of options to deal with anxiety, a toolbox of tools to tackle it by learning how to:
-
Slow down the breath to send a message to the brain to switch from fight & flight to rest
-
Move the body slowly and mindfully, or faster and "flowy" to take the mind off worries
-
Stay in the present moment, a moment that they can control
-
Control a moment that seems to slip through their hands and spiral into deep worry
This yoga course will teach your child a breathing and yoga routine that they can use when they feel anxious. The 1:1 setting in a calm private studio means that we can practice the routine over the 4 days to make it stick.
They will also learn to break it down for situations where they only have a few minutes, or even shorter, and a less obvious routine for when they are in the public for instance.

Has your child ever complained about a tummy ache, but was just anxious about going to school? What about at sleep time? The unspecific pain in the leg or arm, but they just didn't want to be alone in the dark?
As a parent to 3 children I have probably heard most of the "excuses". But they aren't excuses at all. The child is expressing a feeling they cannot put into adult words, and sometimes the feeling shows in an actual physical pain. Or a "I just don't feel good".
What can help in moments where "dis-ease" occurs in our children?
--> Breathing, movement and stretching, all beautifully combined in yoga.
