How to do Yoga on Zoom

How to set up Zoom:
 

  1. You can download the Zoom app on your mobile device or install it on your laptop/ or computer.

  2. Create an account.

  3. Once you book on to a class, you’ll get a simple link via email.

  4. Be sure to check your junk or spam folders if you do not see the email.

  5. All you have to do is click on the link.

  6. You’ll be taken directly into the meeting/ online class.

How to prepare for an online class using Zoom:
 

  1. Props/practice space: Find a place in your home where the computer/ipad/laptop/phone [aka “device”] can be 2-2.50m away and you have enough space to move. In addition, gather a blankets, cushions, large bath towels, strap/scarf/tie, blocks / books or similar – and have them in your practice space before class.

  2. Distance from your device: Ideally, place your mat 2 to 2.50m from the screen, with the long side of your mat facing the screen. If you can see your whole self, then we can see you too!

  3. Lighting: Front lighting is best, side lighting is okay. You can’t be seen if most of the light is coming from a window or lamp behind you. You might have to cover the window if you’re unable to move your device.

  4. Make sure to keep your microphone on mute to cancel out any background noises.

  5. Streaming requires a reliable wifi connection. If your connection weakens, you can turn off your video camera. You don't have to have your video camera on, but it can help if we can see you.

  6. It’s easy to click on your teacher’s photo display and select ‘Pin Video’ – so the video focuses on the teacher only.
